Bay of All Saints

DIRECTOR / CAMERA / EDITOR

Winner of the 2012 South by Southwest Audience Award for Best Feature-Length Documentary, "Bay Of All Saints" is a lyrical portrait of three single-mother families and their refrigerator repairman living in a shantytown built in the bay of Bahia, Brazil. The government’s efforts to reclaim the occupied waters in the name of ecological restoration mean an uncertain future for each of the hardworking families, who cannot be sure if the promise of public housing will be kept.  Before beginning this film I lived in this shantytown and worked as a volunteer for 18-months, during which time I became fluent in Portuguese, gave up vegetarianism for random pig parts, and along with my creative mentor Coryander Friend, began to explore the art of filmmaking. "BAY OF ALL SAINTS" screened at over 30 festivals worldwide and has broadcast plans for late 2015. Produced by Diane Markrow and Davis Coombe. Learn more at www.bayofallsaints.com

Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Daniel Junge, "They Killed Sister Dorothy" follows the powerful courtroom drama that unfolds in the aftermath of a North American nun's assassination in the Brazilian Amazon.  We followed the story for almost three years; slept on hammocks in the Amazon and made frequent visits to the federal prison in Belem. The film was shortlisted for an Academy Award for Best Documentary in 2008, and following its broadcast on HBO, nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Investigative Journalism.  Learn more at www.theykilledsisterdorothy.com

The Last Campaign of Governor Booth Gardner clip

PRODUCTION COORDINATOR, ASSISTANT EDITOR

Just Media's Oscar-nominated documentary is both a poignant profile of former Gov. Booth Gardner as he battles the physical and mental onslaught of Parkinson's Disease; and an exploration of the contentious debate between proponents and foes of Initiative 1000; a controversial bill championed by Gardner that put assisted suicide to a vote in the State of Washington during the 2008 election. Working on this film opened my eyes to the real complexities behind passing assisted suicide legislation, and being present with Gov. Gardner on the night of the 2008 elections is a cherished memory. Produced by Henry Ansbacher and Davis Coombe and directed by Daniel Junge. Visit HBO Films The Last Campaign of Gov. Booth Gardner

Iron Ladies of Liberia

ASSISTANT EDITOR, OUTREACH

In November 2005, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf won a surprise victory over international soccer star George Weah to become Africa's first elected female president. A former finance minister known as the "Iron Lady," Sirleaf quickly appointed a team of strong women around her, including the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Commerce, and the Chief of Police. Iron Ladies of Liberia follows these women over the course of their turbulent first year in office—a year which will determine the future of their country. The stakes are high, and the outcome uncertain, but the commitment of the Iron Ladies will not falter. The film was broadcast internationally as part of the "Why Democracy" series and on the PBS series "Independent Lens." Produced by Just Media and directed by Daniel Junge and Siatta Scott-Johnson, learn more at www.ironladiesofliberia.org
